I figured I’d get up a bit early today and try to get with my dealer since I missed him last week. I might have to get up a bit earlier. The spot is getting a little more crowded, and with this recent heat wave (compounded with the humidity), it makes it all that necessary to get your records and bust out. My regular guy had a good amount of stuff for me, but of course I have to make the rounds. I got a decent amount of mixed Funk and Soul 45s, plus a few Lps. King Bravo was out of Reggae this week, but Psych Dave had a some great Jazz and sleeper Funk Lp by Duke Williams and the Extremes on Capricorn. Funk Rock, but cool none the less. Stinkie Steve was flitting around getting loud talking about how he had a new records (obviously so I would be envious), but seriously, why should I be envious of a crazy man who lives in his car and, word has it, is on the lamb from the law for unpaid traffic violations? Let’s see, I get records for fun. He lives in his car, sells records and whatever any other shady operations he has going on, he’s been kicked out of a few East Coast flea markets, and this guy thinks I am losing sleep over not getting his records. It’s great how the mind of a borderline insane person goes. Like I have said before, it’s the flea market, I’m buying someone else’s junk, and I really try not to get too stressed over it. I always end up getting good finds, so in my eyes, I always win.
I did see the vendor I fondly refer to as “The Wine Guy”. This was the dude who had a bunch of records in his molester custom van (pictured below) that I crawled into, and all the while he’s saying: “Don’t spill my wine!”. His wine was professionally kept in a round Igloo cooler, complete with spigot. I forgot to mention it was 8:30 AM. This reminds me of the time I shared a Coors Light nip with a seller at the Englishtown Auction (when it was in it’s vinyl hey day). It was hot, before noon, and the guy had Funk. I almost felt bad for the guy, like he was some lonely music guy, so while I was digging, I partook in an ice cold “road soda” and some conversation. Good times I tell you.

No records for me this week, just his wine and a sombrero.
